The Forza Motorsport series already counts eight parts, and each of them surprises its fans. But Forza Motorsport 2023 - the game that everyone is talking about - attracts special attention. The developers from Xbox Game Studios decided to give their fans something unique. However, as always, players' opinions were divided after the release, and there were some problems. But what is really hidden in this game?
Fans of Forza Motorsport expected a lot of improvements from the new part. They hoped for more realistic graphics, car physics and opportunities to customize their sports cars. Usually racing games please us with a spectacular start, showing their beauty and possibilities. But Forza Motorsport decided to break these templates. From the very beginning of the game you will find yourself behind the wheel of a car, performing free races, and then participate in regular races.
This approach is quite logical for this simulator. The developers strived to create the most realistic simulator, focused on real racers. There is no room for variety and entertainment - everything is very serious. If you switch to Forza Motorsport after Forza Horizon 5, you might be disappointed. Despite similar titles, these are completely different games from different Microsoft studios.
Forza Motorsport strictly adheres to the concept of maximum realism. Here there is no possibility to choose interesting races for yourself - everything goes in order. At the beginning of the tournament you need to buy a suitable car, pass a number of races and test runs on each track. You should familiarize yourself with the track and set a personal record, and then prepare for the real race. You must spend the experience points you have accumulated to improve the parts, installing the most suitable ones for certain conditions. Each car has its own level, which grows during races - the higher the level, the better parts are available. Players can also customize every part of their car, adding depth to the gameplay and allowing everyone to create a unique vehicle.
This approach encourages long-term use of a single car, so spending several hours behind the wheel of one particular car is normal. The racing series is a long and rigorous process. Based on the results of all the races, a winner is determined and you move on to the next one, watching the awards. It's all very simple.
But what pleased us in a good way were the physics and controls, as well as the flexible assistant to master the game. The overall difficulty and support level can be customized to your liking. As you gradually move to manual controls and increase the level of your opponents, you begin to really feel the adrenaline of driving. Maybe connoisseurs of more advanced professional simulators will want more realism and challenge, but Forza Motorsport does not claim the laurels of the best car simulator on the market. The important thing is that it offers the right experience.
As for the graphics, there are some questions. In the advertising campaign the developers stated that we are facing "the most technically perfect racing game". In the trailer they showed fans the picture, assuring that on Xbox Series X the graphics will be indistinguishable from the top PC builds. However, it actually turned out not to be all that brilliant, even on the PC version.
On both console and PC, the game shows average graphics that can be called questionable. Even in ray-traced mode, not everything looks perfect, and only in the rainiest or night moments you can notice some beauty. Supposedly, the graphical problems will be fixed in the next major update, but it was never released, although the game has been on sale for a few days. This is causing some disappointment.
So, Forza Motorsport 2023 is a new phase in the development of the game series. Microsoft has released another game that is just beginning its life as a service game, combining arcade and simulation approaches. Whether you're a fan of the series or a newcomer, this game definitely deserves your attention. Despite some issues and frustrations, it offers a unique experience.
